Day 4: feels like a dream

Eduardo Chavez

Updated: Jan 11, 2024

Today I woke up little colder than other days, but yet still woke up too such a breathtaking sight of mountains and forests that just makes you want to admire it for hours. As I feel the cool air surrounding me, hear the sound of the river continuously flowing, while birds are chirping its almost like a dream, very calming. None the less I get ready for the day, but first my team and I go to a restaurant for breakfast. While we all sat down at the table and I could smell all the delicious food that was prepared by Juan y Joanna at their restaurant, both of them are very kind and welcoming people who always cook breakfast and dinner for us giving me a new delicious experience on Costa Rican Food . Reason I say this is because they are caring enough to make food for specific people that have allergies to certain types of food and welcoming because you can talk to them very easily without feeling out of place. Shortly after breakfast we head out to the job sight where we met more of the Young Dreams but cool thing was that we got to work with them. I got to talk to two of the young dreamers Johnny y Annabel, they where a little shy at first but the more you talked to them the more we got to know each other. That also goes for me also because I was nervous to talk to then because Im also shy when it comes to talking to new people but with them it was a great experience with lots of unforgettable memories I got with them. Its mid day and now we off to lunch with Doña Flora, and again never stops to amaze me with there delicious food, I just love the food here. Right after that I get some time to relax from a hard days work with some of my team members which we just relaxed in our room and just admired the view of the outside, I was laying down on my bed and it was very rewarding not to mention because of the relief of finally laying down after working for a couple of hours,  but because the cool air and the sounds of the river while having your eyes closed is so relaxing and refreshing. After a good while I take a shower then got ready to go back to the restaurant to cook with Juan y Joanna. What we where making was a traditional soup that is called “Oya de Carne” which we where in charge of dicing up vegetables and then washing them for then to eat later on in the day. As we where doing the whole process we got to know a little bit more about Costa Rica traditions and also Juans life and his family, which was cool because I felt like we got closer rather than just feel like strangers. After everything was said and done we went back to relaxing and after a hour or so returned to the restaurant. My team and I got to experience a delicious plate of Oya de Carne which was very amazing with all the different vegetables and spices used to craft such an art, I left the restaurant with a full belly and also with a warm feeling since I was able to be apart in making this delicious traditional dish. After dinner my group and I end the day playing some card games and just having fun without being glued to technology. So far this experience is a blessing and I am very grateful to be here with such wonderful people.
